The street parties in Mexico City carried out by the well-known Sonideros (DJ sound systems installed in the streets), which mainly mix Cumbia, is the starting point for an exploration that seeks to integrate them with elements of the Berlin party scene to generate a plastic proposal that experimentally fuses narratives and sound practices of the two cities.

*Jesús Martín-Barbero points out that this aesthetics of mixing, which seems random and which from the interpretations of the elites is presented as in bad taste and not worthy of being consumed or reproduced, is precisely what materializes the life in the interior of the barrios.

Turntables, vinyl records, mirror balls and lights are the elements that build a sound and transmedia installation that involves noise, soundscape and live mixing to create an immersive space at Errant Sound project space.

Cumbiambas is the result of a residency of the Colombian artist Ricardo Moreno in Berlin with the support of Errant Sound and the Festival Estación Sonora Experimental FESE.
