Errant Sounds – Record Release

Aug 2024

Friday 30th of August 2024, 7pm
Errant Sound at Miss Read, Gerichtstr. 45 (Remise), 13347 Berlin-Wedding

With a record release on its own label, Errant Sound invites to the first event at the new location: the project space for sound art is temporarily located in a remise in Wedding, shared with Miss Read, the makers of the Berlin Art Book Fair.
The evening will feature a mix of listening to the new vinyl, a conversation between Golo Foellmer and Andreas (LUPO) Lubich, and a relaxed exchange with talks and drinks. The double LP will be available for purchase at the event, with online access activated at a later date.
After a period without events following the move from Rungestraße 20, this launch marks the beginning of an extensive autumn program, including the Soundart Biennale Dystopia and the Anima Mundi project, which explores environmental relations through sound art and cultural exchange. These activities and events will take place across various locations in Berlin and its surrounding areas.

About the publication:
With ‘Errant Sounds’, the group that established the Berlin project space for sound art internationally, presents their first joint double LP on high-quality vinyl. The 16 contributions represent a broad spectrum of sound art positions. They deal with the materiality, spatiality, technicality and diverse cultural forms of sound. The pieces question the relationship between improvisation and composition, between performance and installation, between formal-aesthetic approaches and those that dissolve usual boundaries between subject and environment.

The contributions by Roberta Busechian, Andrei Cucu, Nico Daleman, Georg Klein, Thom Kubli and Georg Werner combine sound principles of electronic and digital processes with social and media-political issues. Pieces by Jutta Ravenna and Gerriet Sharma negotiate how space unfolds and lends depth to our experience of time. Laura Mello, Jeremy Woodruff and Max Joy. place sounds from field recordings of urban soundscapes and social processes in the foreground of their pieces and process them with compositional methods or let them speak for themselves. Mario Asef, Steffi Weismann and Janine Eisenächer question everyday objects for their haptic sonority. Alessandra Eramo, Zorka Wollny and the Psychedelic Choir as well as Gívan Belá, Golo Föllmer and Anne Wellmer work on the boundaries of voice and song.
