Protest against cuttings of cultural budget, Nov. 13 2024

Dear Mr Chialo,

With the decision to make particularly severe cuts to the general budget for culture – now by 11.6% instead of the average of 7.5% – our project space, like many others, can no longer survive!

Because for us, these cuts don’t mean one less job or 10% less budget: for us, it means 100% less! We will no longer have a space in this city.

And that after 14 years as a central presentation venue and network hub for the Berlin and international sound art scene!
This year, in addition to our other programme, we have realised two funded festivals with the participation of over 50 artists and more than 1000 visitors:
– the international Sound Art Biennial DYSTOPIA at 4 locations in the city and with this year’s guest country India
– the ANIMA MUNDI event series in cooperation with Ireland and Poland

Without our own affordable (=funded) space, this will no longer be affordable in the future and it will no longer be possible to run a continuous programme: more than 500 artists have exhibited, performed, presented their work in lectures and put it up for discussion in a variety of public formats in these 14 years.
WITHOUT SPACE this is no longer possible!
