We live in an era that not only has a profound visual impact on nature and, in some cases, destroys it, but also significantly interferes with the sounds of nature and the planet on an acoustic level, altering them—in some cases forever—and creating new sounds and soundscapes.
Exploring this situation and the mutual interpenetration of these partly new soundscapes with musical visions, inspirations, and artistic presentations is the focus of this project:
Field recordings, composed and live-played sounds are woven together with computers and DIY electronics to form electroacoustic collages. This results in hybrid, surreal, and at times dystopian-seeming soundscapes that are not always distinguishable from field recordings captured under extreme or unusual conditions.
hybrid sonic landscapes – program

Annette Krebs
Solo for strings, glass, effervescent powder, paper, voice, computer, tablets, Arduino, field recordings, and four live-played speakers
Electroacoustic soundscapes—digitally transformed, reconstructed with oscillators, and fused into hybrid timbres—arise from the interplay of manually played sounds and field recordings within a DIY assemblage that links sound materials to computers.
The Field Recording Duo
Peter Cusack: field recordings, tablet
JD Zazie: field recordings, turntables
JD Zazie and Peter Cusack perform live with field recordings, keeping the sounds largely in their original form. When recognisable, the recordings carry their own stories; in combination, they become playful and surprising. Their natural spatial depth sparks vivid imagery in the listener’s imagination. The duo aims to evoke spaces between music, storytelling and sonic filmmaking.

Felicity Mangan
Solo for field recordings, computer and two loudspeak
By combining field recordings, electroacoustic composition and electronic music techniques in live performances, Felicity Mangan explores the biomes of wetlands, waterways and soil. Her work creates immersive, quasi‑bioacoustic soundscapes shaped through digital audio‑workstation processes.
unsonic | Udo Noll
radio.earth – A sound essay from the world we live in and surrounding areas
unsonic / Udo Noll is the founder of the website radio aporee ::: maps, a platform for site‑specific audio pieces in public space, as well as the project radio.earth, which explores listening in the context of ecological crises. In his presentation, Udo Noll introduces his long‑standing work with field recordings, their acoustic topographies, and their possible spatio‑temporal configurations in concrete environments and digital spaces.
