Exhibition, Listening Session and Conversation
The work “Fernempfangsstelle” is inspired by the fate of a technology-obsessed outsider who structures amateur radio organisation in the 1920s, sets up a receiving station for transatlantic long-distance radio transmissions, comes into conflict with the Nazis, operates the first secret transmitter against Hitler in exile in Czechoslovakia and is finally murdered by German agents near Prague.

The current and first radio play from the work cycle “Fernempfangsstelle” is multilingual and was commissioned by Czech Radio for, with and about the medium of radio. It has a playing time of about 40 minutes.
The listening session on 19.10. will be followed by a Q&A with Niki Matita and Dr. Kai Knörr (University of Potsdam).
Niki Matita is a freelance radio producer, activist, DJ, journalist and
Visual Artist. In her artistic work she focuses on electronic music and sound art, since 2016 especially on radio art and expanded radio. Her monthly program La Passante Ecoutante is broadcasted on FRB.

Die Arbeit “Fernempfangsstelle” ist inspiriert vom Schicksal eines technikbegeisterten Außenseiters, der in den 1920er Jahren das Amateurfunkwesen strukturiert, eine Empfangsstelle für transatlantische Fernfunkübertragungen einrichtet, in Konflikt mit den Nazis gerät, im Exil in der Tschechoslowakei den ersten Geheimsender gegen Hitler betreibt und schließlich in der Nähe von Prag von deutschen Agenten ermordet wird.

Das aktuelle und erste Hörstück aus dem Werkzyklus Fernempfangsstelle ist mehrsprachig und ist im Auftrag des Tschechischen Rundfunks für, mit und über das Medium Radio entstanden. Es hat eine Spieldauer von ca. 40 Minuten.
Anschließend Q&A mit Niki Matita und Dr. Kai Knörr (Universität Potsdam)
Niki Matita ist Freie Radiomacherin, Aktivistin, DJ, Journalistin und
Bildende Künstlerin. In ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit konzentriert sie sich auf elektronische Musik und Klangkunst, seit 2016 insbesondere auf Radiokunst und Expanded Radio. Ihre monatliche Sendung La Passante Ecoutante wird auf FRB ausgestrahlt.
