Andrei Cucu is a sound artist/composer/musician from Cluj Napoca living in Berlin. He works with text, dreams, video, song, objects with a special focus on sound. He makes poems and writes poems. Phantasma amabila… is a hybrid set for gothic poetry, sampled records and noisemaking inspired by English Romanticism, Polish horror fiction and Transylvanian kitsch.
Founded in 2021, Böseblick (“Evil Eye”) is an ensemble of Berlin-based musicians with diverse origins and musical influences, united by their use of electronic instruments. Rituals, superstition, good and evil ghosts, visions and apparitions are expressed through electronic sound. Blurring the line between composed and improvised playing, the Böseblick Ensemble’s music combines elements of melody and noise with fluidity and grace, reflecting on contemporary issues of cultural appropriation, homeland and togetherness, while creating soundscapes beyond established traditions.
