Lecture performance and listening session by Matto Zoppi
with recorded contributions by Alessandra Eramo, Gabi Pedrosa, Deva Schubert.

27 March 2026 – 18:00
Errant Sound
Gerichtstraße 45, 13347 Berlin
Duration: approx. 90 minutes

This event marks the public presentation of the first phase of Transformations, an ongoing research project by Matto Zoppi developed during his March 2026 residency at Errant Sound, supported by Culture Moves Europe.

Transformations investigates the voice as a space of poetic, political, and intimate transformation. Moving between artistic research and experimental audio documentary, the project explores how vocal practices can become sites where language shifts, identities are negotiated, and sound operates as a medium of change. During the residency, Matto Zoppi conducted a series of recorded conversations and improvisation sessions with artists whose work engages with the voice as a performative and compositional practice. Among the contributors to this first phase of the research are Alessandra Eramo, Gabi Pedrosa, and Deva Schubert.

The event will take the form of a lecture performance and collective listening session, presenting excerpts from the recordings alongside reflections on the research process. Through a combination of spoken narration, sound materials, and listening moments, the audience will be invited to enter the evolving sonic landscape of the project. Conceived as an ongoing work, Transformations aims to continue developing through further encounters, recordings, and compositional processes, taking shape as a series of audio episodes and listening-based works.

Matto Zoppi is a sound artist and performer working with voice, listening, and sonic narration. His practice moves across sound poetry, radio art, and performance, exploring the voice as a site of poetic, political, and intimate metamorphoses. Through extended vocal techniques, improvisation, and electronics, he investigates how voice can carry memory, identity, and embodied knowledge. His works often unfold as hybrid situations, between performance, multimedia projects, and listening sessions. Zoppi’s work has been presented in experimental contexts such as NUB Project Space, Errant Sound, and OHM Berlin, as well as in institutional settings including the Venice Biennale and the Julia Stoschek Foundation.
