Installation by Kirsten Reese for networked mobile speakers
Development/programming of the multi-channel wireless system: Georg Werner
Grasshoppers and crickets, cicadas, bees, bumblebees, ants and beetles, butterflies, dragonflies, flies, mosquitoes, and ants – this installation features insect sounds from various sound archives. Electronic transformations condense and transform the sounds. Insect species and their populations have been declining massively for decades – by up to 80% since 1989. Where do the creatures of meadows, fallow lands, and ecotopes disappear to? Upwards or downwards, to the sky, to the earth? Will new species emerge? – an imaginative listening and speculation about disappearance and transformation.
